The way MLB spring training used to be…escape the winter for baseball paradise!

With their tropical beaches, rich and unique culture, delicious local cuisine, and notable military history, Okinawa and Miyazaki are worth a visit even without baseball. But visit in the spring, and you’ll be treated to baseball paradise: NPB Spring Training.

New in 2025 – we will also see Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) teams at spring training! KBO teams also practice in Okinawa, and we’ll have an even better chance to see them when we head to the beautiful prefecture of Miyazaki in Japan’s southern Kyushu island.

Similar to the U.S., Japanese Spring Training is an intimate experience. You can watch the players practicing on the backfields and get better photo and autograph opportunities than in the regular season. However, NPB Spring Training is not the tourist magnet that MLB’s Spring Training is today. While diehard fans and locals attend, the crowds remain relatively small.. It’s like the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues used to be back in the day, when “Spring Training” was just “spring training,” a hidden gem for baseball purists!

Join us to experience incredible cultural activities like glass blowing and crafting sweets by hand. We’ll also visit famous attractions like museums, zoos, and parks. And naturally, there will be tons of up-close-and-personal baseball action!

  • Really enjoyed this trip. Our guide Fuji was excellent. Okinawa is a great destination outside of baseball as well. Many fascinating WWII sites. Food is fantastic as well. Games were fun as was watching the practices. Will definitely do again.

  • Shane did a wonderful job of putting this tour together and was great with providing us with accommodations. He created a custom itinerary just for us, provided feedback on what he thought was best in terms of transportation, and gave us multiple options for flights and activities. We were provided with tour guides through Hiroshima, got to meet and drink with Masanori “Mashi” Murakami, MLB’s first Japanese player, and met Robert Whiting, an esteemed book author on Japanese culture from Baseball to Crime. We would never have been able to do these things without JapanBall!

  • Overall, the trip was very good. The overall quality of the baseball game tickets was not great: some tickets were near the top of the stadium while others were in the corners of the outfield near the back of the section. The reason for the poor ticket selection was that the original ticket supplier was forced to cease operations by Nissan Professional Baseball. While this was understandable, unavoidable, and beyond the control of the tour operator, nonetheless I was still disappointed with the quality of game tickets. The tour operator did an excellent job managing issues that arose due to weather, rerouting travel and planning alternate activities for the group. The experience of getting to and from the games was well managed and exceeded my expectations.

  • Thank you JapanBall for the trip of a lifetime. The Full Tour 2024 was a success even though we were unable to watch games in Yokohama and Nagoya because of Typhoon Shanshan. Everyone understood that Mother Nature wins every time. Nevertheless. we saw games in 10 of the 12 NPB stadiums, enjoyed sightseeing, the culture, cuisine and the camraderie.
