Honkbal = Dutch Baseball!

Baseball—known as “honkbal” in Dutch—takes center stage at the biennial Haarlem Baseball Week, one of Europe’s most exciting yet underrated baseball festivals. Held at the historic Pim Mulier Stadium, this tournament brings together top national teams from around the globe, including the Netherlands, USA, Japan, Cuba, Taiwan, and more. With round-robin play leading to an epic championship, it’s a can’t-miss event for any baseball enthusiast.

In 2026, Haarlem Baseball Week will celebrate its 32nd edition, offering thrilling games and a unique glimpse into Dutch baseball history. Pim Mulier Stadium is home to both the Dutch Baseball Hall of Fame and the local Kinheim Haarlem team. Holland’s strong baseball tradition shines through its professional league, the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, and legendary players like Xander Bogaerts, Kenley Jansen, and Andruw Jones, all of whom have roots in the Netherlands’ baseball powerhouse.

Off the field, you’ll experience the charm of Haarlem, known as “Little Amsterdam” for its rich culture, historic beauty, and laid-back vibe.   • If you love baseball, this is an extortionary opportunity to see it at an international level. JapanBall knows how to plan and execute international travel for the baseball lover.   • Shane Barclay knocked this Honkbal week trip in the Netherlands out of the park. It was a fun tournament, with a great hotel location, and good optional cultural activities on offer as well. This was my 8th trip with JapanBall since 2010 and I wholeheartedly recommend traveling with Shane’s outfit as you will have a great experience no matter where you go.

  • The JapanBall Honkbalweek baseball tour ⚾⚾⚾ (July 10-16, 2022) was a trip of a lifetime. It was exciting to watch the games at an intimate setting – Pim Mulierstadion in Haarlem – seating capacity of 4,500. Congrats to host team Netherlands for winning the championship. We saw a lot of games between the Netherlands, Cuba, Curacao, Italy, Japan and USA. What did we like about this tour? Shane Barclay, President of JapanBall, incorporates the culture into the program

    Honkbal Week 2022

  • The city of Haalem was a wonderful site for a fun international baseball tournament. The hotel, restaurants and transportation provided by JapanBall were all well done, and the small size of the tour made it easy to get to know all of the tour participants and make new friendships. The schedule was great, allowing time for tourism, as well as baseball. We had a chance to attend 10 baseball games, but this still left us enough time to see all the sites in Haarlem – a canal boat tour, the Frans Hals Museums, the Teylors Museum, the Great Cathedral and its historic organ played by Mozart and Hayden, St. Elizabeth’s (the city history museum) – and still allow for a side trip to the seaside town of Zandvoort, to walk on the fine sand beach and have a fish and chips lunch. A few group meals, including two at the ballpark, were nicely done, which left a number of days to eat at dining places around the city of our choosing (including a great meal at the Michelin star Ratatouile Food & Wine restaurant. Can’t wait to do it again!
