Led by Pachy, our expert local guide, you’ll dive deep into the Dominican baseball culture. Thanks to Pachy’s expertise and Extra Innings founder Shane Barclay’s many years living and working in baseball in the Dominican Republic, guests will get unparalleled inside access on D.R. tours. Visit a range of venues, from rustic sandlots—complete with grazing cows in the outfield—to pristine MLB development academies and lively winter league (LIDOM) games. Along the way, connect with Dominican players and executives while immersing yourself in the island’s vibrant Latino-Caribbean culture.
This year, we are offering three tour segment options:
- Segment One: Urban Exploration features four LIDOM games in six nights. We’ll stay three nights in the bustling capital of Santo Domingo and three nights in the country’s northern “Cibao” region in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. We will also visit the southern province of San Cristobal, diving deep into the three urban centers of the Dominican baseball “machine.”
- Segment Two: Baseball and Beaches features three LIDOM games in five nights at our beautiful, boutique seaside resort in the beach town of Juan Dolio. We’ll explore the rich baseball culture of the country’s eastern provinces of San Pedro de Macorís and La Romana.
- The Full Tour combines Segment 1 and Segment 2 into one grand Caribbean baseball adventure, giving you the best and most thorough insights into the world’s preeminent producer of baseball talent!

Segment One: Urban Exploration
Three nights in each of the D.R.’s two principal cities – the capital of Santo Domingo and Santiago de los Caballeros, the focal point of the country’s northern “Cibao” region.
Segment Two: Baseball and Beaches
Explore the city’s baseball-rich eastern provinces of San Pedro de Macorís and La Romana, and stay five consecutive nights at our boutiful beachside resort hotel in Juan Dolio.

We at Extra Innings Travel feel that it’s important to intentionally support the Dominican economy with tour funds. At least 40% of Dominicans live in poverty and, even with a wealthy upper class buoying the statistics, the average monthly salary is under $400.
Rather than just skim the culture as fortunate tourists, our tours will benefit the local communities we visit. Approximately 70% of our tour price is earmarked as “local spend” that will stay in the Dominican Republic.
