Baseball—known as “honkbal” in Dutch—takes center stage at the biennial Haarlem Baseball Week, one of Europe’s most exciting yet underrated baseball festivals. Held at the historic Pim Mulier Stadium, this tournament brings together top national teams from around the globe. With round-robin play leading to an epic championship, it’s a can’t-miss event for any baseball enthusiast.

In 2028, Haarlem Baseball Week will celebrate its 33rd edition, offering thrilling games and a unique glimpse into Dutch baseball history. Pim Mulier Stadium is home to both the Dutch Baseball Hall of Fame and the local Kinheim Haarlem team. Holland’s strong baseball tradition shines through its professional league, the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, and legendary players like Xander Bogaerts, Kenley Jansen, and Andruw Jones, all of whom have roots in the Netherlands’ baseball powerhouse.

Off the field, you’ll experience the charm of Haarlem, known as “Little Amsterdam” for its rich culture, historic beauty, and laid-back vibe. Just a quick train ride away, Amsterdam awaits with its world-famous sights and vibrant energy.   • ​Staying in the heart of Haarlem was a game-changer to walk to local landmarks and explore the city on foot. We took a private canal cruise, and even did a day trip to Amsterdam. But the real magic was at Pim Mulier Stadium. Watching European baseball is an absolute blast—the stadium plaza felt like a daily festival with live music, local food trucks, and craft beer. There is a joyful energy to the game with constant singing, and fun, lighthearted crowd antics. Every game was a party. This trip was the perfect mix of European baseball, historic sightseeing, local Dutch charm, and down time.

The accommodations were fabulous, especially the location. The optional side trips were interesting and fun. The meals we shared as a group were well organized and enjoyable.
