2026 Netherlands Tour Recap & Photo Log
Next Haarlem Baseball Week Tour: June – July 2028
Days One & Two — June 29 & 30
Our Honkbalweek Haarlem tour in the Netherlands is officially underway!
After enjoying a few early arrival days and our Amsterdam cultural add-on, the full group came together on Monday for introductions before heading to historic Pim Mulier Stadium for our first game of the tour: Curacao 🇨🇼 vs. Italy 🇮🇹
Italy came out swinging and took the opener, 11-3, giving us a fun first taste of the international baseball atmosphere that makes Honkbalweek so special.
On Tuesday, we got to enjoy Haarlem from the water with a canal boat cruise through the city before visiting Windmill De Adriaan, one of Haarlem’s most iconic landmarks. Afterwards, we had our hosted welcome lunch at Restaurant Zuidam before heading back to Pim Mulier for a full day of baseball.
In the afternoon, we caught Chinese Taipei taking a dominant 10-0 win over the International Globetrotters, before the Dutch closed out the night with a 6-4 victory over Curacao in front of the home crowd.
Beautiful Haarlem, great company, and plenty more honkbal to play!
Days Three & Four — July 1 & 2
After a full slate of games on Wednesday, we shifted gears on Thursday for a packed day of history, culture, and more baseball.
We started the morning with a trip into Amsterdam, where we visited the famous Anne Frank House. Afterwards, we walked through the famous Nine Streets, one of the most picturesque areas of the city, before visiting the Museum of the Canals to learn more about Amsterdam’s history and its iconic waterways.
From there, we enjoyed a hosted lunch at A. van Wees, a former distillery turned local pub, where the group got to try some classic Dutch fare in a historic setting!
After returning to Haarlem, we had the chance to hear the city’s famous organ concert inside the beautiful Bavokerk. The church’s Christian Müller Organ, completed in 1738, is one of the most iconic organs in the world and was once played by Handel and a young Mozart.
Later in the afternoon, we headed to Catnap Books for a special event with the great Michael Clair (@michaelsclair), MLB.com writer and author of “We Sacrifice Everything to Baseball,” his book about the Czech Republic’s inspiring run to the World Baseball Classic. With Czechia 🇨🇿 competing at Honkbalweek this year, it was the perfect setting to hear more about their baseball story.
Then, it was back to Pim Mulier Stadium for Honkbalweek playoff action as Italy bested the Netherlands, 1-0, in a competitive affair.
We’re looking forward to the rest of the trip!
Days Five & Six — July 3 & 4
On Friday, we got the day started with something a little unique, visiting to the Aalsmeer Flower Auction, the largest flower auction in the world!
It was an early morning, but well worth it! We got a behind-the-scenes look at one of the Netherlands’ most unique industries and watched the massive flower operation in action before heading back to Haarlem.
Later that afternoon, it was back to Pim Mulier Stadium for the Honkbalweek playoff games, which saw the Czech Republic take down the International Globetrotters and Netherlands beat Chinese Taipei.
Between games, we enjoyed a hosted tailgate picnic, giving everyone a chance to relax, talk ball, and soak in the lively atmosphere around one of the most unique international baseball events in the world!
On Saturday, guests had a free morning to enjoy Haarlem one last time, whether that meant visiting the Grote Markt Saturday market, exploring the city, checking out a museum, or just taking it slow before the final game.
Then, we headed back to Pim Mulier Stadium for the Honkbalweek Championship Game, the perfect way to close out our Dutch baseball adventure.
What a game it was with Italy 🇮🇹 riding the WBC wave to their first Honkbalweek title with a 4-3 win over the Dutch. It was a play at the plate to end it after a back and forth battle between Europe’s two best programs and biggest baseball rivals going back decades.
That’s a wrap on this year’s trip! Thank you to everyone who joined us and followed along!
